The AHJL ‘Big John’ was a unique creation on the Whyalla network, operated by Australian National (AN) to transport coke for the steel industry. Ingeniously fabricated by welding two standard H hoppers together, it became the only wagon of its type and size in the fleet. Its striking AN green and yellow livery made it stand out as it shuttled coke across the industrial lines around Whyalla.
